What is this fascination with bluebirds? Being a child of the 60s I grew up with the little cutesy birdies on nursery furniture and linen, in picture books and such.
We had an old Hansel and Gretel record story book where you would turn the page when it went beep. There were cutesy songs to go along with the story and one of my favourites was:
You follow the bluebird and listen to his song,
If you follow the bluebird you never will go wrong,
The bluebird's a true bird he'll put you where you belong,
So you follow the bluebird and listen to his song,
Diddley dum, dee dum, dee dum, "BEEP"
Remember bluebird earrings in the 70s? Oh how I wanted a pair of those!
I guess you could call this unrequited bluebird love :)
